I am a Turkish citizen currently residing in Almaty, Kazakhstan, together with my wife and son, who are Kazakh citizens.
We are planning to travel by private car from Kazakhstan to Turkey and intend to transit through the Russian Federation via the Atyrau–Astrakhan land border crossing.
As I understand that the Russian e-visa is not valid for entry via this land border, I would like to apply for a regular (sticker) Russian visa in advance.
I kindly request your confirmation on the following points:
Whether I, as a Turkish citizen legally staying in Kazakhstan under a visa-free regime, am eligible to apply for a Russian visa at the Russian Consulate in Almaty.
Which type of visa is appropriate for this journey (transit visa or tourist visa).
The list of required documents that I should prepare for the application.
Whether an appointment is required and how it can be scheduled.
